Amarantos

2013 Salento Negroamaro

Nuovo Vite Amarantos is a captivating red wine made from the esteemed Negroamaro varietal, hailing from the sun-drenched Salento region of Italy. This vintage, crafted in 2013, showcases a beautiful deep ruby color that hints at the rich depth within. On the palate, it presents a medium-bodied profile with a delightful balance of medium acidity, making it both approachable and food-friendly. The fruit intensity is prominent, revealing luscious notes of dark cherry, plum, and hints of dried herbs that meld seamlessly with subtle undertones of spice. Tannins are notably firm yet well-integrated, providing structure and a pleasing mouthfeel that lingers on the finish. Its off-dry character leaves a satisfying yet refreshing sensation, making Nuovo Vite Amarantos a wonderful choice for any occasion, especially when paired with hearty Italian dishes or grilled meats.

Region:

Puglia
Puglia

The heel of Italy's "boot," sunny Puglia (the "g" is silent), is famed for its olive oils, almonds and of course, its rich, full-bodied wines. Although dry and intensely hot in the summer, Puglia has coastlines on three sides, providing cool Mediterranean breezes to alleviate the daytime heat. Primitivo (known in the US as Zinfandel) does well here, with other popular red varieties including Sangiovese and Negroamaro. But it is not all about reds in Puglia: the local Fiano grape produces gloriously nutty, tropical-flavored white, while Falanghina makes intensely fruity wines with citrus blossom notes.
